Job Description
• 3 year internship program for Ambulance Operator/Fire Intern
• 24 hour rotating shifts for an average of 56 hour work week
• Program includes training & experience to enhance your opportunities to compete in open Fire Fighter examinations
Qualifications
Required:
• 18 years old
• High school graduate or equivalent
• California Class C Driver’s License
• Possess a current CPR Card
• Possess valid Emergency Medical Technician - EMT-1
• Satisfactory completion of a California State Fire Marshall accredited Fire Academy as evidenced by related certificates of completion
• California (DMV) issued Ambulance Driver Certificate must be obtained prior to employment
Preferred:
• Fire science course work at college level
• Education and experience directed toward a career in the fire service
Required Documentation Upon Application
• Current Resume
• Copy of current California Driver’s License
• Copy of current EMT Certification
• Copies of certificates indicating completion of a Fire Marshall approved Fire Academy or Firefighter I Certification
• Copy of high school diploma or equivalent
• Letters of Recommendation
Required prior to Employment
• Copy of Ambulance License & Medical Examiner's Certificate
• Must pass medical exam, drug test, oral exam and background check
• Must pass a physical abilities test prior to employment
Compensation & Benefits
• $8.40 per hour with time-and-a-half ($12.75) for hours over 40 hours per week
• A comprehensive medical, dental vacation and sick pay benefit package upon completion of 90 days as a full time employee
